tools Most of our contact with clients is done through email and phone conversations. This is comfortable for most everyone. Sometimes more functionality is required for that personal touch, or for educational purposes. The following is a list 10 of sites and applications that can be used for that.
1. Skype - it’s easy to use, free to download and has video chat. why not? too bad they don’t have screen sharing functionality
2. DimDim - This is my web conferencing app of choice. compatible with mac and PC. free to use for conferences under 20 users. if thats not enough it’s open source as well, download flavors for linux and windows servers on their sourceforge page
3. WebEx - probably the bast known web conferencing tool, prices start at $39/month for the individual free 14day trial too. This is the corporate choice
4. Vmukti - runs on windows server 2003, and XP written in c#, also open source. you can check it out on SourceForge. it also comes in a professional version with hosted options.
5. WebHuddle - Secure java applet no server install. Open Source and free check the demo: WebHuddle demo
6. OpenMeetings - Open Source web conferencing integrates with moodle, see all the information at their Google Code page. there is also a demo here (note: the password = demo username = demo) you can download the code and install it on your server….oh yeah its free!
7. Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro - it took me a while to figure out how much this costs to use. you’ll need to call adobe for anything beyond their month to month subscription service $375 for their starter pack or $0.32 per user per min.
8. Glance - one click desktop sharing! check out their news section
9. iVisit - for both for desktop and mobile, track your mobile clients with GPS, take a look at their features page. free for 90 days - fully featured for 7.95 per month with a 1 year subscription
10. Gizmo Project - similar to skype, give it a try if you have an aversion to skype.

blogs Not, Web Design companies don’t traditionally do SEO or Internet marketing. Ok, well the big one’s do, and they are usually not very good at it, especially SEO. I guess they could be, if they read our Marketing book or the SEOBook? They should and good one’s probably do optimized your pages to make sure they are indexed by the search engines. SEO is a must if you are going to looking to do any Internet marketing, and you should definitly look at reading our marketing book, before you do that. I am going to list a few points, here, but than past a recent free blog from our Wordpress SEO blog. Don’t be afraid to read our marketing book, we cover all these topics, enjoy:

We just wrote this on our Free Blog and Create a blog platform, enjoy and while at it, why not buy our Internet Marketing Book?
I rankings for the keyword “SEO” have fallen from #11-#14 to #33 this week. Same with our other Major Keywords “Free Blog” from #8 to #11, “Create a blog” from #6 to #11. How can this be, I thought we wrote a marketing book on SEO and power of blogs? It bothers me a lot, because we claim to be SEO Experts, but has our traffic fallen dramatically or at all?
The answer to that question is no, but I am sure for those keywords it has dropped. One of MyTypes SEO and Free blog clients RentExpert.com went back to #4 for “VRBO” so that is good news. But, one of the other clients “Website Design St. Louis” provider Artworksdesign.com dropped to #14 from #6 for the keywords “web site design St. Louis“. What bothers me most is not our rankings, well for “Free Blog” and “Create a blog” do bother me, and actually so does “Wordpress SEO“. But other keywords, i can deal with. So back to what can we do about it. Blog, silly blog. It’s not Drill baby drill, it’s blog baby blog. If you don’t write on your content, your traffic will drop, so will your SEO rankings. blogs How to blog? But better yet, why should you blog? Before we answer those two questions, It might warrant for us to answer the question what is a blog?
A blog is short for “Weblog”. It is an online journal, a website, a online presence, a blog website. It can be hosted on a domain name such as your www.yourname.com or on blog.yourname.com or yourname.com/blog.
So why are blogs such a craze, and how do they differ than websites?
Blogs, have been popularized by bloggers (self proclaimed journalists), and search engines, because Google, other search engines, and mass media have covered blogs and bloggers as they publish the latest news and opinons of the masses.
What makes a blog more popular than a traditional website is that a blog is much easier to update and publish. Now days a blogs and websites are both converging in to blog based websites. What makes a blog more unique is that it allows for comments and feedback from visitors, while most websites don’t. Also, a blog has the most recent post at the top, making it more interesting to see the latest news and highlights.

We can design web pages, and we can write lots of free blogs, why? Because we love to write, but most importantly, we love to get high PR links from all the free blogs on our system.
The article below shows the value of SEO link building from 5 top SEO experts. No matter what you believe, it’s still a very important part of any SEO strategy and Internet Marketing. Don’t just take my word for it, read the articles, not that I haven’t written a marketing book on SEO, Search, Blogs and Internet Marketing.

To hammer the value of anchor texted based links, I am going to ask you to visit the following sites, Zappos, Expedia, and salesforce.com. Now check their rankings in Google for any of the keywords in their title tags, do you see them in the top 10 search results, you should? They are some of the best SEO companies. Also check out MSNBC.com and shopping.msn.com, they also rank high for their keywords, in the top 10 and top 5. Well, we have friends at the Green Channel at MSN so, let’s give them a link for the great work that they are doing! Why do all of these site rank in the top 10, and are very good at SEO, rather than their competitors? My main proof is that they all use Anchor text based footer links on the bottom of their pages. If you don’t know what that is, just look at the bottom of their pages, you will quickly see what I am talking about.
Recently, I was talking to a Sr. SEO manager for one of the top 5 Internet companies in the world. His boss recommend I talk with him, to figure out how I can help them. In the hour long conversation, I was lucky to get a word in. He thought, I was looking for a job, which I wasn’t against. I mean, who wouldn’t they are a top 5 Internet Company with billions in revenues. But, by the end of the 1 hour, I wouldn’t work for him or his boss. Why? And what does this tangent have to do with Link Building? patient my dear, patient:-)
That Sr. Manager and his associates have an SEO guidelines document, and they don’t talk about Link Popularity, Google page rank or Anchor Text based links at all. Well, if they did, it might not even be more than a sentence. The worst part of it is, they have so many opportunities to help their internal departments, as most of their pages have a Google Page Rank of 9 and 8. We are talking far more than 30 pages with at least a PR of 8 or higher. Thousands of pages with PR of 7+, and they don’t recommend that these website designers, producers or teams do any SEO links. This guy claims to have written a marketing book, but I checked and it doesn’t even cover proper keywords. Mind you this guy, does not recommend using Adwords.google.com, so how could he even know about proper Anchor Text links.
So what’s the message in all of this? Knowing about SEO is different then being very good at SEO, and the most important thing to know is the power of Anchor text links from high PR pages. You don’t have to buy my Marketing book, but you should, it is at Amazon, and only 19.95. The strategies work, have you seen our rankings for “Free Blog” “SEO” “Create blog” “Blogging“, we are in the top 10 at google. Even for our clients RentExpert.com for VRBO. But, we are not there yet for “Travel Blog” for our website eVacations.org, we are SEOing it for the major keyword “Vacations“. Yes we are shooting for major keywords, and doing very well. Top 14 in Google for “SEO”, go ahead buy our marketing book, you will benefit from it. And, go get some organic links!

exercise Working in tech I get to see many types of people with varying backgrounds. one of the things I like to ask is how someone stays in shape. Since the tech industry is mostly sedentary in nature most of us sit for long periods of time during the day. I personally love to work out and I find it lets me function better when I am working if I have a consistent work out routine, breaking up the SEO webdesign and work is Key.
I wanted to mention my local CrossFit gym in Seattle. this is not your typical work out. learn Russian kettlebell training, gymnastics fundamentals, Olympic lifts…. all wonderful training. Take a look at some pictures below to get an Idea of what it is all about.
This is not an elitist club either, good people, lots of support and just plain fun! If you are ever here in Seattle on Vacation or other wise go visit Crossfit Seattle.
