Watching cable on your iPhone?

January 6th, 2009 by admin

I was going to write about my marketing book today, how a retired Exec from Microsoft loved our book title, “Marketing is a CONTACT sport”.  So much for writing about boring Internet marketing, blogging, power of free blogs etc.  I would rather write about sports marketing and now iPhone is going video how cool is that.  Now I will be able to watch video on my iPhone and especially my favorite sports, thank God, I am so grateful for the Gods bestowing sports and live videos on our phones where ever we are.  Is watching cable or TV on your iPhone really that cool, you betcha!

It may not sound cool as you think, but if your kids hog the television as mine do, it will definitly be a worthwhile app.  The iPhone has added a lot of quality videos and music back in to my life.  I was a lucky recipient of one as a gift before Thanks Giving!  So when I read the article on TechCrunch about SlingMedia offerring this app, I immediately got excited.  I have been thinking about the iPhone as a video phone and as a video device already.  It’s not a rocket science leap is it?

Here is the article from TechCrunch:

Coming Soon From Sling Media: Watch Cable TV From Your iPhone
by Jason Kincaid on January 5, 2009

Sling Media, the company behind the popular (and very cool) settop boxes that allow you to stream cable from your house to your computer, looks like it has outdone itself. At this week’s Macworld the company will be showing off its upcoming iPhone application, which effectively gives iPhone owners instant access to their Cable TVs and Tivos from anywhere they have a network connection. Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait a little longer (the company says that the app will be submitted to Apple some time in Q1), but it looks like it will be well worth the wait.
