Google page rank Update, Moo Oohhoo-keep blogging

Filed under: SEO for Bloggers, PR Blogging, My Blogs — Admin @ 8:32 pm

I will get to blogging and our amazing page rank of 5 by the new Google update in a second. I am super excited, as I just got home from downtown Seattle shopping, and it seems things are starting to shift for us. We started our Christmas shopping a earlier, and oh what a festive day it was. I got the most important person off my list for the presents. You see, I actually don’t treat my self that well, always thinking and buying for the kids. My daughter Mia and son Liam also picked up some cool shoes and outfits. The Singh/Dickinson family, needed a treat, as we have had a rough few months. Thanks to Aunti Kelly, we also had a great lunch at the Palomino.

Jill my wife bought me two books, and I bought my self an amazing marketing book that you should read too. It’s by the marketing Guru Seth Godwin, and called “The Big Moo”. The reason the book is amazing is that it is written of insights of 33 amazing people, and broken up in short articles. And, it has a bit of inspirational advice that helped me get over some emotional challenges. All that in a marketing book, wow how cool is that, and to get it from a marketing book!

Do marketing and motivation go hand in hand, Yes, and am I the only one that thinks that?

I don’t think so, as I found out today from Seth. Thank You Mr. Godwin, you helped to push me forward. I will send you a letter and email for doing this, you were a blessing today.

Now to the meat of this blog, I turned on the computer a few moments ago debating if I will blog today on the blogging coach. Sorry folks, I did not blog for two days on the blogging coach area, but if you are reading our SEO Blog templates-our SEO blog, you know I did blog there 2 days ago. And, if you are an avid reader of Vipin, you know that I am still keeping my original blog on blogger going, and did write a post there. Why am I blogging on two or three different blogs?

Photo-blog-girl in mirror

To keep the blogs to a particular focus, and to take advantage of the Links to our websites from good Google page rank sites. Why do I blog on blogger out Google competitor to MyTypes.com? To keep the page rank of that blog, and I think that Google still favors blogger blogs, and to get links from a good Google PR blog. I also use that blogging system as my email to blog, and to keep up with their features, so we could enhance our own blogging system.

So you can see from my above ramblings that Links coming from good Google Page Rank sites matters to your own search rankings. The more links you have coming from high Google Page Rank blogs the better. It really is about quality. So what is a Google Page Rank, you ask? Google page rank is google’s cacluation of the value of your site/blog. It is calculated on it’s own algorithm, and people do put a lot of emphasis on high PR, if they wish to exchange links with you. Google PR is a good measure, but it’s not the main measure of a site. But we like it enough to keep blogging on good PR sites to gauge incoming links from. This post gives me an idea of my next few posts or just one on explaining what Google PR is based on, how to get it, and it’s mechanics. Sorry, this post is getting too long, I made a rule as your blogging coach to keep each post palatable and limit it to 3-4 paragraphs.

To close off, I am sure excited as the MyTypes.com main page never had a PR until today. As you already know, we only launched this site in May, so by October we should have had a PR, but not a good one. Well, we got a good launch of a Google PR today, we got a PR of 5. I have never owned or worked on a website of PR of 5 or higher. So we are very excited, Google PR of 5 is not easy to get. Also, each page of a website get’s its own PR, and the PR of the blogging coach section is 4, which is also very good. My MyTypes.com/vipin PR is 3, our UrbanTango.com and Xoompad.com PR’s dropped from 4 to 3, not good. But, this shows you that Google made some significant changes and a PR of 4 is exceptional and 5 is out standing. Anyway, we are toothing our own horn here, but I feel good about our results. Thanks to Keith, Othniel, and all of our supporters such as Eliza and Brian. Thanks folks we really do appreciate your help!

just keep blogging = consistency = links = eSuccess Final Part 4.

Filed under: Blogger's Block, Blogging Techniques — Admin @ 2:31 pm

Do you remember “Nemo” the movie, and Dori “Dittzy fish” that kept saying, just keep swimming, keep swimming. We loved Dori and how motivational she was about keep pushing to find Nemo the lost fish. Well, my advice to you as your blogging coach, no matter how busy you are, just keep blogging, keep blogging. I know, I know, you don’t have time to write. You are very busy, taking the kids to school, dealing with your spousal issues, employee issues, product issues, etc. etc. I have heard it before, and some times your excuses are very valid, as mine are. But, we do have a business to promote, and add consistency to your business and blog.

wine-glass-eSuccess-photo-blog-sxc.hu

What’s the final Key to your eSuccess? Consistency, c’est tous, c’est la, Consistency! And the only advice you need from me or anyone else is just keep blogging. Even days like today, I didn’t feel like writing, it’s rainy and dark outside in Seattle, and it’s noon for crying out loud. And, actually after writing a blog every day for a few weeks, I really am running out of materials to write about. You see, I am like every other tech/search marketing guy, there is only so much tech news to write about. I am sure you have run in to Blogger block, as I have. My advice to you on those days, just keep blogging. Write about your bloggers block. Remember you don’t have to blog every day, but a few times a week is very smart. As mentioned before fresh content is essential for search marketing, but links you get from your post pages is huge for your SEO too. See that wasn’t that hard, and you will feel oh soo much better when you are done. A few small tips to keep blogging:

1. Do it any way, start writing you blog

2. If you skip a day no big deal, just get back to it.

3. As you start to write, write about anything, but bring it back to your theme. Ours is blogging coach, and blogging tips so that is what we did.

blog exchange = Links = eSuccess Part 3

Filed under: Blogger's Block, Link Building — Admin @ 6:38 pm

Get them to write a blog about you, what other people will write a blog post about your product? Exchanging blog posts with others is a simple yet effective way to get powerful recommendations. But, will they write about you? Yes, they will!

Did you not see me write a few posts on Digg.com, Technorati, Stumbleupon, or about other people’s websites?

photo-blog-sun-pig-sxc.hu

You may have more value than you might give your self credit. Yes, you too deserve to have people write about you. Until there is no official blog exchange network, we will have to do this manually, the old fashioned way. How will you get people to write about you?Follow these simple steps, remember keep it simple:

1. Ask them to write about you, and you will write about them, easy!

2. Make your distinction very clear, why are you different, better, etc.

3. Give them something to write about, headlines, content, know how, get it:-)

4. Why is your secret sauce valuable to their readers, make your case.

For example, by coming to MyTypes.com you get insights in to Blogging, eSuccess, Search Engine Marketing, all for free and in language that non-techies can understand.

5. Provide current news in your blog with your insights and opinions.

Google revenues are up 53.7%, with $2.04B just for international revenues? Wow, all this and they are a Multi-Billion dollar company. Ok, how are they doing it? They made money recently on YouTube.com, they own 5 of the top 10+ websites, how? Because they bought them and enhanced their value, not just left them drift. Did you know that Blogger.com- yes our competitor is moved up to 27million users? Wow, they are doing great!

6. Give them visuals, will make your blogs and content well read.  Recently, I have had a number of people comment on how much they like our blog photos, this makes me proud.  Choosing the right photo requires time, it might take you some time to find the right mix of photos and videos, but isn’t your best worth it?

Give them a tip = Links = Seo Tool Part 2

Filed under: Link Building, SEO for Bloggers — Admin @ 7:12 pm

Give them a blog tip of the day, and call it a Tip #192. Providing tips, no not the cash kind, but a tip of knowledge, an insight, something that helps people, that is the kind of Tip, we are talking about. Providing people a “Tip on a regular basis” gives them something to look forward to and keeps them coming back.

It’s a good idea to number the tip or make a list, it organizes your blogs and it gives people something to look forward to. As you know, I write too much, you should avoid that as well. Be clear, concise, and specific.

Cafe-photo-blog.sxc.hu

For example:

SEO Tip #192: Give them a Tip

Make sure the tip is uniquely helpful, and it’s an insight that you truly do know from experience that works. You the tip in a story, or make your point vividly. Tell a story of how the tip worked for you in your past, in helping you win something or achieve something. For example, making a list of 5-9 items always helped me to keep our projects on task, etc. etc.

Tomorrow, we start to cover the basics of SEO and end with a last three articles from our SEO Blog Templates technical manual.

Attracting Technorats = Links = woW SEO tool Part 1.

First of all what is a Technorat, it’s a person who goes to Technorati.com, Yes? Well, yes and kind of sort of No, that’s not what I meant. Attracting people to your blog or website or writing an article or doing something viral to attract links is the way of the best SEO Company. So the more highly popular your blog or website is linked the better. But, I take that further, the more you get bloggers to write and link to you, the better you will SEO your way to the top. So a Technorat in my opinion is a blogger, yes a blogging buddy, a subject matter expert, who writes a blog. Ok, well anyone who writes a blog, and gets it listed on Technorati.com is good enough. Yes, any blog writing to you is pretty good, so blogging is the #1 SEO tool for you. Especially the links you get from them.

Attracting links from news paper websites is very powerful, as Google, MSN, Yahoo and other major search engines value them highly. So being news worthy is a good thing. Hey look we at MyTypes.com is in 350+ news papers every day, woW, due to SEO?

Adam @ Home Oct 16

Yes, there we are, to the very right border of the Cartoon, Blog: MyTypes.com/brian A world famous cartoonist, yes Brian Basset. He is more famous for his cartoon Red and Rover, and we are in all of his comics. I just wish all 350 news papers would Link to us, but no worries our LinkMint SEO strategies work. We have already gotten 20,000 plus good links to get ranked #1 for our keyword “Create a blog” in Google. We are #5 for “blogging” and top 1-20 in most blogging and blog related keywords.

So how do YOU get Organic top rankings and SEO your way to the top of major Search Engines? Get more powerful links THAN YOUR COMPETITORS from news/blog websites, it’s that easy. But how to get MORE BLOGGERS to write about you? Focus on creating something of value for them, and they will give you links back to your site/blog. A top provider of SEO advice, well now days SEO tools too, and SEO expert Rand Fiskin talks about getting links from Linkerati ( the technorats as we call them), an active group of blogsphere viral types. Yes these are the Technorats, and they do hang out at Technorati.com.

As mentioned before they hang out at Digg.com, StumbleUpon.com, delicious.com and many social networking type sites. They can make a lot of noise in a very short amount of time, and popularize your blog quickly. SEO blogger/guru/writer can give you all the tools for you to check your ranking, get your keywords, get you meta tags, site maps and SEO Tool this, and SEO Tool that. But can they get you high value links? Yes, that’s the ticket.

Keep it simple as we say, give away a free lunch, and people will thank you, ask them the Bloggers to thank you with a link. The best thing as always you can do is write good stuff about them, ask them to write similar stuff about you. If you want to take this to the next level, and really be #1, think of what you could give everyone in the whole world? Give them knowledge of some sort, something different, something they don’t have as easily as you. Blog it regulary, and ask them to link back to you. Voila, you have achieved eSuccess and as mentioned so many times, Blogging is the only SEO tool you need. Now, go do your regular blogging work and eat that free lunch, and thinking of Free lunches, humnh so good:-).

announcing Community.MyTypes.com

Filed under: Community Blogs, Social Media Networks, PR Blogging, General — Admin @ 1:09 am

As mentioned in previous posts that we have been testing community blogging tools and blog community features to help you promote your blog. We just implemented the system today, just to promote it first to our already existing users. I wrote a blog on the difference between our main MyTypes.com/blog website versus the community blogs, check it out by going to community.mytypes.com

As some of you know prior to September we had Digg style blog post rating features to build community around your blogs. So had to do some signficant testing internally to launch a blog community features, this time the system is much better. Here are the features that we needed:

1. The ability to help you promote your blog, via RSS to pull content, no matter where you blog, with us, Blogger, TypePad or just type in your feed, we do the rest!

2. The ability to invite friends and show case their blogs etc. to truly build community

3. We needed to have photos, tags, files, and profiles integrated

4. We needed a system that would connect with our current system and others

5. The community features needed to have the ability to have secure features to make blogs private or public

6. Most Importantly the system had to scale to tens of thousands of users, and up to millions, as some of you know blog websites that we are currently using already has 3000 plus blogs.

7. The System needed to have the ability to be customizable by the users, and it can.

Why do you have to log in separately to that system?

Not everyone wants to build community, so we wanted to Leave the system separate to maximize resources.

And, not every community blogger wants to have a full customizable blog website, so they just want a place to promote their existing blog and build community. Now they can, via our RSS features, and we all win!

How easy is it?

Go to Community.MyTypes.com and if you already have a MyTypes.com blog you can Login via Open ID (go to the bottom right had side of the page and Setup your Login with MyTypes username password).

No Blogger Left Behind, Part 3: Digg it?

Filed under: Link Building, Why Blog?, Stickiness — Admin @ 7:04 pm

Hey baby, you Digg my Business? Well, that’s a bit more casual for a business blog to be news at Digg.com. But, it sure makes a great tag line though, does it not? Great tag lines and great headlines make for good marketing and smart news stories. You need to get your blog posts on Digg.com every time, that is, if you want to promote your blog. Why, because of the Digg effect.

Earrings Jewelry Photo Blog from sxc.hu

Have you heard of the Digg.com or heard of “The Digg Effect” yet? Well, if you have not heard of it or not been there yet, you should go there as soon as you finish reading this blog. Digg is not a house hold name yet, but in the tech community and among it’s rivals it stands out at at a huge success. It’s a ratings engine for news, videos, blogs, you name it people Digg it! Microsoft just did a deal with Digg.com to provide advertising on the Digg network. This was the largest advertisement distribution deal by Live.com the Search Engine Marketing arm of MS.

We actually had Digg features within our News section of blogs, so we think highly of end user rating systems and blog/news aggregators. So does Bill Gates as mentioned in his futurist conversation with Donny on “The Big Idea” recently. So How does Digg work, and why is it good for your search marketing business? The Digg effect is that people are getting plethora of traffic from Digg, at times enough to crash there servers. Is Digg good for your SEO and search marketing and search rankings? I dont’ really know for sure, but I do think it’s good for you to develop community around your blogs, posts, and it’s definitely a great way for you to promote your blog. It is limited in what it does, and don’t try to make it your the place to be online. Well maybe, if you are in to Digging things, news, blogs etc. What I am trying to say is, it’s not your all in one social networking site like MySpace or Facebook.

Go after your goals, as soon as you are done posting to your blog, go to Digg and post it as a story for people to read. It’s really simple, and let’s hope you get the Digg effect, tons of traffic folks, people at Digg are active.
